Discovery Cove Guide

Discovery Cove is a theme park that creates unique experiences unlike any other, located in the mecca of theme parks, Orlando Florida.

Located adjacent to it's sister parks - SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica, Discovery Cove aims to provide interactive marine life experiences much like those found in the ocean, in a clean, controlled and safe environment.

The opening of Discovery Cove in the summer of 2000 has set new standards for the typical aquarium-based attraction.  Unlike an aquarium, guests are actively involved in the living environment allowing close interaction with the animals.  Within the park, each visitor can swim with dolphins, swim and snorkel in a tropical reef, observe and feed birds in a tropical bird aviary, float down a lazy river, or sunbathe on a white sand beach.

Discovery Cove Orlando has also created a way to ensure that each guest is allowed to experience the interaction by limiting admission to 1,000 visitors daily. This means no long lines to stand in or aggressive crowds to battle. It is important to note that advanced reservations are required for a visit to Discovery Cove.

Another feature unique to Discovery Cove Orlando is that it is an all-inclusive theme park. Each visitor receives free meals and drinks, snacks, a free group photo upon entering, and all snorkel gear needed with the days' admission.  While the initial admission ticket may be a bit steep, here you know exactly how to budget your trip.  Of course there will be optional expenses such as souvenirs but all necessities are accounted for in the price of admission.

June of 2011 brings a new adventure to Discovery Cove: The Grand Reef.  This new area of play and exploration features many levels of play, suitable for all ages.  Park goers can choose to wade in shallow beaches or snorkel throughout various reef environments from different areas of the world with schools of various fish, rays, sharks, and even venomous lionfish!  The big draw of this new section of the park however will be SeaVenture, an underwater walk on the sea floor.  Participants will have the opportunity to touch various sea animals as they swim by, geared up in a helmet and special suits for the adventure.  SeaVenture is bound to be a wildly popular attraction and will be available to all day guests for an additional nominal fee.  The Grand Reef in Discovery Cove helps bridge the gap between theme park and beach vacations.
